Commit is founded
On July 29, 1997, Commit is officially founded by Spyros Konidaris. We are located at a 30 sq.m. office space in Nea Ionia. The idea was in the makings for quite a while as Spyros was already doing translation/localization work as a part-time freelancer. The main target language offered is Greek.
Trados is a reality
In 1999, Commit orders its first Trados license. Trados was an independent company back then, the order was in Deutsche Marks and, well, since then technology has been one of the main blocks of our daily routine.
In 2001, besides Greek, Commit is awarded a second language (Turkish), from a major client. This was an important milestone for our company as it almost doubled our turnover and played a substantial role in our development in the years to come. It also provided the opportunity to make good friends in our neighboring country.

The GALA meeting in Brussels
Commit, represented by Spyros Konidaris, General Manger, and Annita Kontoyianni, Project Manager at the time, takes part at the GALA (Globalization and Localization Association) meeting in Brussels, marking the beginning of attendance of tens of international events, conferences, etc. Our rapid development is largely due to attending such events and being a member of global associations.
Starting in the Summer of 2003 and for approx. one year ahead, Commit doubles its personnel as a result of increasing volumes of work.
Our 1st Localization World
Commit attends the first Localization World conference in Seattle, Washington, co-exhibiting in the GALA booth. Since then, we have been to all Localization World conferences and numerous other exhibitions, exploring opportunities with clients and partners, and leveraging the educational seminars. An invaluable experience.
From SLV to RLV
It's time for the Athens Olympic Games and Commit is adding the Balkan languages to its portfolio, making the big step from a Single Language Vendor to a Regional one.
Moving to new offices
We have to move on to larger offices to accommodate our expansion. We are moving to a nice office space of 200 sq. m. at Neo Iraklio, close to the Athens Olympic Stadium. The offices, at that time, look and feel generously spacious...
2006 marks the beginning of another round of personnel expansion. Within a year, the number of employees doubles and our offices do not look so spacious anymore!
It's time to celebrate our 10th birthday! Employess, clients, and partners gather up for drinks and finger food. A memorable and emotional evening!
From RLV to MLV
Leveraging our participation in industry events all around the world, and after extensive work by our vendor manager and linguists, we are now able to support projects in most business language combinations.
In April 2009, our USA office in San Diego, California commences operations. Jack Kelly is appointed as our Director for Business Development. Focus is given on acquiring clients in the area.
Our first ever employee Info-Workshop is held. Company management shares high-level info and employees share and learn. Since then, the Info-Workshop is being held annually, contributing to management openness and employee sharing and engagement.
ISO 9001 & EN 15038
Commit is certified according to ISO 9001 and EN 15038. Both standards ensure a customer-centric business approach with pre-defined and well documented quality assurance processes.
Subject-matter expert PM teams
Responding to client requirements, and the diversity of projects handled, Commit forms subject-matter expert Project Management teams to effectively manage translation/localization projects.
15 years already?
Fifteen years have passed since 1997; Commit enters its teenage era! This time our employees and their families enjoy a day out full of fun activities! Happy birthday!
Commit converts its EN 15038 certification to the international standard for translation companies, ISO 17100.
Please check back soon! We hope to have an important milestone added to our timeline!
